Don Pasquale opened at The Drayton Arms Theatre in 2015. Revived at the 2016 Rye Arts Festival and at The Cockpit in 2017.
This modern-day production of Donizetti's farcical masterpiece saw Don Pasquale re-imagined as an Albert Steptoe-esque owner of a packaging warehouse. Accordingly, the set was made entirely of packaging materials - cardboard boxes (from which unexpected props emerged), bubble-wrap, packing nuggets, and so forth. The boxes could be reconfigured by the performers according to need; an office space converted into a 'split-screen' arrangement of two rooms, and transformed into a 'box garden' magically lit by flickering candle-bags.
