ABOUT & CONTACT
Customarily, this opera is staged lavishly, but here, the production was stripped right back to focus on grim reality behind the artifice. As a metaphor for Violetta's character-defining impoverished origins, the action unfolded around the constant of an old, mismatched table and chairs, which served for a bar/party table, country kitchen table, gambling table and the suggestion of a mortuary slab.
